Michael crept through the kitchen shadows, it was turning lighter as the sun continued to rise. She couldn't risk stealing a marble from Joey's beloved collection. He would pound her if she were caught. Instead, her eyes darted around the room for something of approximate size, resting at the sugar bowl on the counter next to the coffee pot. Michael dragged the chair over and climbed up to help herself to two sugar cubes. She popped one into her mouth before climbing down and sliding the chair back to the table.
